Since 1980 the Literacy Council of Manatee County has been helping adults improve their English skills through one-on-one volunteer tutoring. We help native English speakers as well as people encountering English for the first time.

We are a non-profit organization that believes in giving the gift of literacy at no cost to our students. Our most precious commodity is our people and we are always looking for new members to serve in whatever capacity they are comfortable with.

You can help promote literacy in many different ways. You can serve as a tutor helping a student, as a volunteer, or by giving a donation that will be used to improve our service to the community. Please help us make a difference in someone's life.
